Originally founded in 1946 by A. Allan Polakoff, TBB was launched as the Transportation Bureau of Baltimore, offering freight traffic consulting services to companies that simply needed support in the transportation of their goods and products from Point A to Point B. In the late 1960’s the company diversified its portfolio to offer full scale traffic management, when Jay Polakoff succeeded his father as CEO and guided TBB to its current position as a major industry player in the delivery of innovative, outsourced traffic management services. Upon Jay’s retirement in 2000, ownership was turned over to his sons, Sam and Phil Polakoff, who maintain leadership and day-to-day operational management of the company today.
Customers of TBB are able to take advantage of a wide range of technology-based products and services that help streamline their transport, distribution, inventory management and reverse logistics protocols. The company recently underwent an aggressive technology makeover, applying JDA, CargoWise and Dynamics AX systems to efficiently manage client supply chain processes, and opening a door for the implementation of mobile applications that will enable self-serve supply chain support functions for customers, in the future. The activation of these new technologies earned TBB a 2013 VOLTAGE Award, which recognizes corporations that stand as pioneering innovators and implementers of technology solutions and systems.
TBB is headquartered in New Freedom, Pennsylvania, with a second facility located in Hanover, Maryland. The company employs approximately 80 employees, and maintains a network of agents in countries across the globe, to assure the diverse needs of its customers can be fulfilled, both domestically and internationally.
